This picture was taken by UNICEF (Universal Children's Emergency Fund) to show the destruction war causes. This picture was taken in Syria, and it shows the devastation and destruction of war that interrupts the lives of innocent families. This picture shows a family of four, a dad, mum, young boy and newborn baby, fleeing from their own home in order to find safety, shelter and education for the children. I believe this picture is to help us understand the struggle innocent families have when they are caught in the middle of horrific wars, and to make us feel sympathy as in this picture we can clearly see the despair, distress and desperation in their faces cally feel sympathy for the people in this picture as I can see the baby on the left, which makes me feel disappointed to think about the hopeless life that baby may have. This picture has been taken by the company UNICEF. The meaning behind this picture is to show us what life is really like for these people that are trying to evacuate from the war. This Company is trying to make us feel sympathy for these people and want us to donate money or clothes to their charity so these people can be supported. They want us to know that life isnt easy for them.
Comment
I think the meaning of this picture is to persuade people to give money and any unwanted items to the UNICEF charity to help support those in need. This is a very strong picture and just by looking at this picture it tells you a full story and makes you really think about the situation. In the picture they are going in height order. This is good because the dad is almost pulling the family and telling them to carry on. In the picture the dad has taken charge. You can tell by there facial expressions that they have no choice but to leave because if they dont they will die. The legs of the family have been cropped out which makes the family seem closer to the image and as if you can reach out and touch the family.
Connection
the picture is cleverly placed in color as it shows the people viewing it there emotions so you can much easier relate to them as feel sorry for them and it also shows you the weather and the condition they've been through. the theme is conflict as it shows us not the blood, horror and guts that occurs but the effects of all the war and what the poor people have to do and suffer for in the tough conditions that they face. the photographer has took the picture at this very exact time to capture the anguish on there distressed faces. a message portrayed here is to show us the distress people have to face just due to all the war and conflict happening in the places around them.
Composition
the picture was taken at an worms eye view to make the family look vulnerable towards the whole world. the picture also has a strong triangular line to focus on the exact facial expression as it shows the unhappiness on there face.In this photo the rule of thirds is 2/3 of the photo is the mud and the other 1/3 of the photo is the dull grey sky. Their is also a strong leading line running through the middle flowing through the man and woman’s heads and it flows just over the little boys head. The photo has used a fast shutter speed to make it look like a still image. As you can see in the photo it doesn’t look like their is a depth of field because the people and the background is clear and it would be blurry in the background. As you can see the UNICEF photographer has look up at the family and it looks like a soft lighting because its all dull and muddy in the background. My eye is drawn to the woman in the middle because she looks angry and upset they have to move away from their home and they become homeless. The person that took this photo has taken it from a worms eye view and hasn't used a tripod.
Content
the structure in the picture is heavily focused on the gloom on the families faces as it creates the most sympathy to hook you in and it helps you understand there feelings better. the picture was taken in Syria to show everyone the harsh condition that people such as this family have to go through as they have a 1 month old baby but are fleeing from there home because its not safe there anymore.it is also shown as a full picture with detail as it has something everywhere for example the destroyed building which makes the epicures structure better and shows the distance they traveled.
Domestic violence mood board
From this picture you can tell that there is a meaning behind it. In my opinion I think the meaning behind this is to try and reduce the amount of murders. your eyes are drawn straight to the gun and then the blood. these two things together indicates that something bad has happened. As you can see,in the background there is an arm which tells us that someone is clearly injured or even dead.
From this picture you can see what it is telling you straight away. The picture has a meaning behind it and that meaning is to stay away from parks at night because its not safe at all . straight away your eyes are drawn to the knife. The knife being in the picture suggests that someone is going to get badly hurt. The message is telling people and specifically young people that innocent places like parks can also be a danger.
The charity I have selected that link to child abuse is the charity childline.
Confidentiality Counsellors do not record calls but write down case notes of calls and sometimes counselling supervisors may also listen in to calls to make sure that they can help the best they can. History ChildLine logo used from 1998-2007In 1986 Esther Rantzen, presenter of That's Life!, a popular consumer TV show, suggested to the BBC that they create "Childwatch", a programme about child abuse that was screened on 30 October 1986 on BBC1, the aim being to try to detect children at risk before their lives were in danger. Viewers were asked if they would take part in the survey in an edition of That's Life!. A helpline was opened after the programme so that any child currently suffering abuse could call for help. Rantzen, together with her BBC producers Sarah Caplin and Ritchie Cogan, therefore suggested they should create a helpline specifically for children in danger or distress, to be open throughout the year, 24/7, and launch it on the programme. The project was made possible by a benefactor Ian Skipper who underwrote the charity for the first three years. ChildLine joined the NSPCC in February 2006, and extra resources were pledged in an attempt to ensure that no child's call goes unanswered. UK operations ChildLine has 12 counselling centres around the UK, staffed largely by volunteers. The bases are located in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, Liverpool, Prestatyn, Birmingham, Nottingham, London, Belfast and Foyle, supported by the online only centres at Leeds and Cardiff. A restructure in 2011 saw the closure of the ChildLine bases in Exeter and Edinburgh, with Swansea relocating to Cardiff. As many as 4,500 children phone ChildLine every day, though only 2,500 of these callers can be answered due to lack of resources. Since the merger with the NSPCC the service has expanded, and depends on public generosity to pay for the children's phone calls. ChildLine raises funds through several channels, including direct donations through the NSPCC, partnerships, events such as The X Factor ChildLine Ball and through third-party fundraising organisations such as Justgiving. ChildLine Scotland[edit]Following ChildLine's merger with NSPCC in 2006, ChildLine Scotland was run by Children 1st under contract, available to all children and young people in Scotland up to 18 years of age. It had at that time bases in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. The Edinburgh base has since closed. As of March 2012, ChildLine Scotland is run directly by the NSPCC. In 2011 the NSPCC in Scotland began to work with partners to introduce new services for children and families.
My photo shoot plan.
Photo shoot 1
Overall I think my first photo shoot was a success because there is a lot of meaning behind the pictures and the models did a very good job to make the picture and scene as real as possible.
Best photo
In my opinion I think this is my best shoot because the focus is on the person getting hit and bullied by the other person.the blood really draws you into the picture and helps to show the meaning behind the picture. You can see that the person getting hit is very scared and hurt and doesn't want to be in that situation.the facial expressions and I.S.O help to set the mood of the picture.
Worst photo
In my opinion this is my worst photo because although the facial expressions of the victim are good you can see the bully laughing a bit and there isn't really a main point to focus on in the picture and there is no meaning behind it.
Photo shoot 2
Best photo
I think this is my best picture because of the aperture,ISO and shutter speed.Straight away your attention is draw to the blood. You can tell by this picture that the person is being bullied and hurt because of the drips of blood on the steps and also the foot stamping on him.
Worst photo
This is my worst photo because you can see the model is laughing and the composition is bad and the angle is bad so it looks fake.Aperture and i.s.o isn't used properly
Photo shoot 3
Best photo.
This is my best photo because you can tell by the actors facial expressions that they are being harmed.there is a good level of aperture ans i.s.o used in this picture. The i.s.o level is set at around 200.the aperture is on the cloudy mode which helps to set the mood.
Worst photo.
This is my worst photo because the i.s.o is a bit high making the picture brighter which sets more of a happy mood rather than a dark and gloomy mood. There is no meaning behind the picture so you cant look at it and really get a proper understanding of whats happening in it.
Photo shoot 4
Best photo.
This is my best photo because you can see a meaning behind this picture which is that the person being grabbed isnt in control and is hurt. Also there is rule of thirds and aperture used in this photo which helps to set the mood.
Worst photo
This is my worst photo because you can see on the actors face that he dosent look scared and this makes the whole picture feel a bit different and takes the whole effect of bullying away.
Photo shoot 5
Best photo
This is my best photo because you can see the actor is sad and even though you cant see bullying in this picture you can tell the actor is depressed and feels isolated. The i.s.o is set to cloudy which helps to set the mood and make it all gloomy.

My next photo shoot plan.
Shoot 6
Best photo
This is my best photo because of the ISO and aperture it is dark and this sets the mood of it being depressing and gloomy. There is a good rule of thirds used as well because you can see the back ground is blurred and it focuses on the actor.
Worst photo
This is my worst photo because of the orange high light and there is not really a meaning behind the picture as the victim is covering his face.

Evaluation
1.The project was based on conflict and we enjoyed it because although the pictures are serious they are fun to prepare for and we can have a laugh while doing the work so yes we enjoyed it.
2.The most interesting part of the project was when we were taking the photos because it was fun actually getting ready and putting things on like props and fake blood and makeup.
3.A technique we experienced is how to change a picture on photo shop and add colour and text.We inhanse our work by adding filters and to cut things out.
4.i would like to improve my photo shop skills and camera skills to improve the quality and standards of the pictures Ive taken.
5.The photographers we searched throughout this project is
6.They influenced my shoots because they showed us more skills such as using the shutter speed, iso, white balance and rule of thirds.
7.The technique enjoyed the most was either editing my photos or actually taken them because they are both fun to do and then once you have taken a photo it then moves onto improving it and adding filters and text.
8.i feel the most successful part of the project was the end result because the picture went through the photo shop process and came out different but improved.more colour and shade was added to it to set the dark and gloomy mood of child abuse.
9.we Came across the problems of the studio lights not working and also having to put up the backdrop.this was time consuming and gave us less time to shoot because we had to put it and and set the lights up and then take it back down and put it away leaving us with about 30 minutes of shooting time.
10.well eventually we got use to putting them all up and putting them away which means we did it faster giving us more time to shoot.
11.to complete the project again I would take less time dealing with the set up which gives us more shooting time which would give us more pictures and more potential better results.
